It was an action packed weekend in Knoxville, Tennessee as Valor promotion’s invaded the National Guard Armory for two nights of combat action. The East Tennessee-based organization puts together events that feature multiple styles of combat. This weekend’s festivities included grappling matches, kickboxing bouts and of course MMA fights.
Closing out the weekend, featherweight champion Annie Decrescente of Striker Fight Center out of Kennesaw, Georgia successfully defended her title. She went the distance against her opponent, Alexa Tarallo of D-Evil MMA out of Johnson City, Tennessee, earning the unanimous decision victory. It was the first time she put her belt on the line since becoming champion last November.
On Friday night Nick Martino of Pitch Black MMA out of Simpsonville, South Carolina stopped his opponent late in the second round to become the promotion’s new amateur lightweight champion. With seconds to go, the referee was forced to step in to call a stop to the action after Eli-Jon Kaindu of 4 Seasons MMA out of Lexington, Kentucky was unable to defend himself. After the fight was over Martino took to Facebook posting, “Want to give a shout out to my opponent Eli-John Kaindu.” He also added, “Awesome fighter with a ton of talent. It was an honor to have fought him.”
