Earlier this week we reported that Tennessee-based fighter, Adam “Primetime” Townsend (12-3), inked a multi-fight deal with Resurrection Fighting Alliance (RFA). It was announced on last night’s edition of Inside MMA that he will meet Legacy FC’s Chris Feist (8-1).
Yes, you did read that correctly. Competing in the first ever, cross-promotional event which puts 5 RFA fighters against 5 Legacy FC fighters, Townsend is ready to make history. Riding a six-fight winning streak, Townsend has spent the last nine months dismantling his opponents, one, by one. Since June of last year, the Team Oxendine/D-Evil fighter has finished his last six opponents, five by submission and one by technical knockout.
The Horseshoe Tunica Hotel and Casino in Robinsonville, Mississippi, plays host to the Legacy/RFA show on May 8. The groundbreaking event will feature a headlining bout between RFA Flyweight Champion Alexandre Pantoja and Legacy Flyweight Champion Damacio Page. The two flyweights will be competing for the Inaugural Superfight title.
Training with Team Takedown/Velociti Fitness out of Arlington, Texas, Chris Feist made his Legacy debut this past October. Coming into the fight against the now UFC fighter Carlos Ferreira, Feist had an undefeated record of 8 wins and no losses. The two went the distance in the main event at Legacy 24, but it was Ferreira who came out on the winning side of the unanimous decision.
Ed Soares, the owner of RFA, joined the Inside MMA cast last night to talk about the upcoming event.
“Working with Andrew Simon and Mick Maynard, we will produce the first true promotion versus promotion MMA show and Superfight,” stated Ed Soares, President of Resurrection Fighting Alliance. “Alexandre Pantoja versus Damacio Page is an exciting pairing for the inaugural AXS TV FIGHTS Superfight title.”
“We are excited to be a part of a series that is the first of its kind,” said Mick Maynard, CEO of Legacy Fighting Championship. “Both of our organizations have been instrumental in catapulting fighters to the next level in their careers for the last several years and this will be an even more entertaining and unique way to continue that legacy. Many have talked the talk, Legacy and RFA will now be walking the walk.”
