Valor makes its first appearance of 2016, as Valor Fights 30 is set to go down this weekend at The International in Knoxville, Tennessee.
A total of 17 bouts are set for the card, including four pro bouts, two amateur title fights, and a kickboxing bout.
In the main event, lightweights will throw down as Knoxville’s own Nick Gehrts (4-2) squares off against undefeated Georgia fighter Steve Haag (1-0).
The confident Gehrts has said he plans to finish Haag, whether it be via knockout or submission. But he comes in looking to rebound from a loss to Andrew Tyson in his last outing a Shamrock FC event. Prior to that, he earned a decision over Adam Hyde at Valor Fights 23 and finished Augusta Tindall with a vicious flying knee knockout at Valor Fights 22 last April.
The Georgia native Haag submitted Nick Collins with an omoplata in his pro debut at Valor Fights 26 last September.
In the co-main event, Corey Browing (2-0) will look to keep his perfect record instact when he faces Randy Stamey (2-2) in a 150-pound catchweight bout.
Browning has opened his career with back to back submission wins in the first round, finishing Dalton Fox via triangle at Valor Fights 18 and Roy Sanders via strikes at Valor Fights 27. The Virginia native Stamey has won two in a row over Tim Boyle and Josh Cate after dropping his first two pro bouts.
On the amateur side of things, heavyweight champion Benjamin Rowland (5-0) will defend his title against Tyrone Garner (2-3). Rowland is currently ranked as the No. 2 heavyweight in the BluegrassMMA Rankings.
Rowland has earned four of his five victories via knockout or TKO, and he won the title with a decision over Kyle Jesse at Apex Fights 8 in November. Garner comes in from North Carolina and dropped his last bout to Jake Tubbs in November
No. 8 ranked heavyweight Justin Goodin (4-1) will also be in action against Gavin Walker (1-1), and No. 2 ranked flyweight William Bolduc (6-5) is set to face Kacee Leekley (0-1).
Bantamweight champion Freddie Walker (3-1) will also put his title on the line when he faces Austin Childers (6-1) in an intriguing 135-pound matchup.
The event will be streamed live on ValorFights.com for a price of $12.99.
