A second bout is set for this month’s Pinnacle FC 13 event, as rising stars Chris Mitchell (2-0) and Jerrell Hodge (2-1) will square off in the night’s co-main event.
Both fighters held Pinnacle FC gold as amateurs, as Mitchell was the lightweight champion while Hodge was the featherweight champion.
Mitchell became a breakout star in 2015, as he went 3-0 including a victory as an amateur before making the jump to the pro ranks. His signature win came at Pinnacle FC 12 in November when he stopped veteran Charlie Gathers with a head kick knockout.
Hodge has won two in a row after dropping his pro debut. The Evolve MMA fighter was dominant as an amateur, winning titles in the NAAFS and EFP promotions as well as Pinnacle. He also holds a notable knockout victory over current UFC star Cody Garbrandt. His last outing was in December when he earned a decision victory over Tray Taylor at IT Fight Series 39.
Pinnacle FC 13 takes place on March 26 at the Syria Shrine Center in Cheswick, Pennsylvania. The event will be headlined by a featherweight title bout between top Ohio Valley stars Dominic Mazzotta and Rob Hanna.
