It’s not a secret that Cody Garbrandt (10-0, 5-0 UFC) is one of the fastest rising stars in the UFC, and he proved just why once again on Saturday night.

“No Love” produced a 48-second knockout win over veteran Takeya Mizugaki on Saturday night at UFC 202, and afterwards he called out UFC bantamweight champion Dominick Cruz.

Garbrandt has now proudced nine of his ten victories via knockout, including four of his five wins inside the Octagon.

The Ohio native Garbrandt and Cruz reportedly almost came to blows backstage at the event before Garbrandt’s fight, and it seems as though Cruz is open to the idea of the young upstart being his next challenger.

The UFC hasn’t announced Cruz’s next opponent, and he hasn’t competed since besting Urijah Faber at UFC 199 in June.

If the bout does happen, a potential perfect landing spot could be the recently announced UFC on FOX 22 event on Dec. 17 in Sacramento. Garbrandt trains with Faber and Team Alpha Male in the California capital.

Check out the knockout win below, and let us know in the comments if you think Garbrandt is ready for a shot at UFC gold.
