Steve Mowry set to make pro debut at Titan FC 41

Steve Mowry is set to make his professional debut next month at Titan FC 41. The heavyweight, who hails from the Pittsburgh area, is set to take on Abel Valdez at Titan FC 41 on Sept. 9.

Mowry, 24, recently moved to Florida full-time where he became a member of the “Blackzilians” team at the Jaco Hybrid Training Center in in Boca Raton.

He posted a 7-0 record as an amateur, and won titles in the Explosive Fight Promotions and Gladiators of the Cage promotions. Perhaps his most notable win was a submission over former NCAA champion J.D. Ramsey last year.

The 2015 BluegrassMMA Amateur Fighter of the Year trains alongside the likes of Matt Mitrione, Rashad Evans, Anthony Johnson, Eddie Alvarez, and Vitor Belfort.

The 6’9″ Mowry is set to take on Valdez, who is listed at 5’11”. Valdez posted a 6-7 amateur record and last competed in March 2015.

“It’s a big move especially for where I’m at in my career,” Mowry told BluegrassMMA. “But the opportunity just felt right for me and I feel like I’m one hundred percent ready for the challenge. Thanks to my awesome coaches and training partners.”

Titan FC 41 takes place at the Bank United Center in Coral Gabels, Florida on Sept. 9. The event airs live on UFC Fight Pass. Men’s and women’s bantamweight titles will be on the line in the two headlining bouts, as Carina Damm faces Kalindra Faria and Andrew Whitney takes on Farkhad Sharipov.
