Results – IT Fight Series 39

ZANESVILLE, Oh. – Iron Tiger Fight Series is live tonight in Zanesville, Ohio for their final event of the year, as IT Fight Series 39 goes down at Veterans Hall at the Muskingum County Fairgrounds in Clay City.

Tonight’s card features 13 bouts, including two in the pro ranks.

In the main event, welterweights Timmy McCavit and Andrew Law will square off in a bout that is pivotal in the career of both.

Fight 11 – Tray Taylor vs Jerrell Hodge – Catchweight (140 lbs)

Round 1 – Hodge throwing fire and follows in a right hand for a takedown. Gets it against the cage but Taylor is back to his feet. Hodge gets a throw and is in side control. Taylor regains half guard. Hodge heavy on top and gets full mount. Taylor turns his back and Hodge has the hooks. A few shots to open him up. Hodge looking to work the choke. Hodge rides his back the rest of the round and it’s an easy one for the judges to score. 10-9 Hodge.

Round 2 – Taylor rushes in this time but Hodge sidesteps and grabs a body lock for the takedown. Hodge has his back again. Taylor trying to turn into him and eventually does. Hodge looking for the kimura from his back and uses it to get the sweep. Hodge in guard and he stands up. A few strikes and another takedown. Hodge with his back again. Hodge looks to roll for the armbar but Taylor blocks it. Hodge with his back again and locks in a rear naked choke. It looks like Taylor wants to tap but the bell to end the round saves him. 10-9 Hodge.

Round 3 – Taylor rushes in again and lands a left hand flush. They’re trading shots and Hodge is showboating with his hands down against the cage. Hodge lands a few shots and they’re back on the ground with Taylor on the top this time. Hodge is out and looks for the arm bar belly down. He grabs the neck again and Taylor looks to roll. Hodge with a few elbows and gets mount as he throws shots from the top. More heavy shots from the top. Another dominant round. 10-9 Hodge.

Fight 12 – Timmy McCavit vs Andrew Law – Welterweights
Winner: Andrew Law (6-4) def. Timmy McCavit (4-3) via Submission (rear naked choke) – Round 1, 2:44

Round 1 – McCavit openings up swinging heavy and gets the takedown. He’s in guard. Law looking for a straight arm bar but McCavit is out. Law throws a couple of upkicks and McCavit dives down into his guard. McCavit throws elbows from guard and they are back up. Spinning backfist from McCavit misses and Law hits a hip toss. Law on top and McCavit turns his back. Law flattens him out and locks in the rear naked. McCavit taps and it’s a wrap.
