Hardrock MMA 77 is set to go down at the Paroquet Conference Center in Shepherdsville, Kentucky this Saturday, and 18 bouts are set for the pro and amateur card.
In the night’s main event, Hardrock MMA amateur lightweight champion Lance Lawrence (0-0, 8-0 am) is set to make his pro debut, as he’ll face Brian Kerr (2-1) in a 150-pound catchweight bout.
Area 502’s Lawrence earned all eight of his amateur victories via stoppage, including six via submission and two via knockout. Five of his amateur bouts never made it out of the first round, including his final bout in November at Hardrock MMA 76 when he stopped Kevan Avery via TKO in just 44 seconds.
Greg Gill MMA’s Kerr comes in a with a 2-1 record, having won his last two bouts via stoppage. Most recently, he submitted Ruslan Aminov with an arm bar that disclocated the boxer’s arm at Hardrock MMA 73 last June.
Another Hardrock MMA champ will make his pro debut in the co-main event, as heavyweight Dontale Mayes (0-0, 8-0 am) moves to the pro ranks to take on Harry Hunsucker (1-1).
Bronx Hill MMA’s Mayes had just one fight make it to the judges as an amateur, but the other seven were all finished via strikes. He closed out his amateur career with a TKO victory over Gerald Clore at Hardrock MMA 76 in November.
Another former Hardrock MMA amateur champion, Hunsucker dropped his pro debut to William Vincent via strikes, but he rebounded with a 44-second rear naked choke victory over Kevin Powers at a Warrior FC event in November.
The night’s other two pro bouts will feature welterweights Randy Jones (2-5) vs. Scott Dabe (0-1) and featherweights Dusty Stengel (1-1) vs. David Crowe (2-1).
On the amateur side of things, a pair of pivotal bouts could determine the next challengers for the lightweight title that Lawrence left vacant with his jump to the pro ranks. Ricky Jones, Jr. (7-4) and Shawn Nickell (8-2) will square off in one bout, while Kegan Agnew (4-1) and Cory Clemons (5-2) throw down in another.
