Mark Cherico working with Cody Garbrandt at Team Alpha Male for Pinnacle FC 15

Mark Cherico’s fight camp is headed to California, as “The Pride of Bloomfield” will pack up and head west to Sacramento to train with UFC No. 1 contender Cody Garbrandt at Team Alpha Male.
This won’t be the first time that Cherico has trained with “No Love,” as the two were teammates at Fight Club Pittsburgh (now Mark Cherico’s MMA Academy) in the Steel City before Garbrandt made the permanent move to the Golden State.
Cherico returns to action next weekend at Pinnacle FC 15, as he’s set to take on Antonio Castillo Jr. in a highly anticipated grudge match that has been years in the making.
Garbrandt is preparing for a pretty big fight himself, as he’ll face Dominick Cruz for the UFC bantamweight championship in the co-main event at UFC 207 on Dec. 30.
Cherico returned to action earlier this year after a short-lived retirement, and he topped D’Juan Owens via unanimous decision after moving to the lightweight division. Now back at his natural featherweight, he’ll once again attempt to prove that he’s ready for the UFC with a win over another top foe in Castillo.
“The Pride” is once again joined on the Pinnacle FC card by fellow Pittsburgh native Dominic Mazzotta, who will defend his featherweight title against southern intruder Solon Staley.
