A big-time fight is set to headline the upcoming Colosseum Combat XLI card, as Dom Steele (13-9) will take on Daniel Vizcaya (9-4) in a middleweight bout at the event on October 7 in Kokomo, Indiana.
The Vision MMA product Steele’s last five bouts have come under the UFC banner, but he will compete back on the regional scene here. It’s not clear whether he has received his UFC release just yet, but he was cleared to find fights outside of the organization.
Steele posted a 1-4 record in the Octagon, with his lone win coming via a devastating knockout due to a slam at UFC Fight Night 79 in 2015. Most recently, he dropped a decision against Luke Jumeau at UFC Fight Night 110 in June.
Vizcaya is a big-show veteran himself, as he picked up a win over Jack Hermansson at Bellator 84 in 2012. The Chicago area native also competed on Season 19 of The Ultimate Fighter, but he was knocked out by Matt Van Buren in his preliminary bout.
After not competing for all of 2016, he returned to action in February, when he was submitted by Kevin Nowaczyk at HFC 32. He’s currently ranked as the No. 3 pro middleweight in Indiana by Tapology.
Colosseum Combat XLI takes place at the Kokomo Event & Conference Center. Stay tuned to BluegrassMMA for more on this event.
