Kegan Agnew (9-3) will defend his lightweight title next month at Hardrock MMA 92, and he’ll do so against a familiar foe, as he takes on Nick Maupin (5-5).
Agnew and Maupin first squared off for the lightweight title at Hardrock MMA 80 last June, with Agnew coming away the victor via unanimous decision. Agnew has gone on to defend his title twice since that fight, while Maupin hasn’t fought since then.
Agnew has six of his nine wins via stoppage, including his most recent outing over Kane Ray at Hardrock MMA 88 in April, where he won via rear naked choke in the first round. He’s also never been finished, as all three of his losses have come via decision. He’s ranked as the No. 3 amateur lightweight in Kentucky by Tapology.
Maupin was slated to make his return to the cage last month at Hardrock MMA 90, but his bout against Will Sirles was scratched on fight day. The Area 502 fighter had won three straight bouts via first round stoppage prior to the loss against Agnew last year.
Three pro bouts are also set for Hardrock MMA 92, as Lance Lawrence faces Marc McDonald in the main event, Ruben Warr takes on Jacob Kilburn, and Ian Lawler and Branden Bishop throw down.
Hardrock MMA 92 takes place on Sept. 16 at the Paroquet Springs Convention Center in Shepherdsville, Kentucky. Check out the video of the first bout between these two below.
