Jeff Hughes (8-1) topped reigning heavyweight champion Richard Odoms (13-4) to claim the organization’s title in his debut on AXS TV Fights at LFA 26 on Friday night.

The Ohio native controlled much of the fight against the native Texan in Houston, using a calm fighting style to earn a unanimous decision and become the new heavyweight champion.

“Lights Out” now has eight wins in his nine outings, with his lone loss coming against UFC veteran Dan Spohn last year. Half of his wins have come via stoppage, and he has also shown to have an amount of stamina not normally seen in heavyweights, with four wins via decision.
