Reed Academy’s Abrams, Benjamin, Reed and McNally prepare for battle

Justin McNally

Reedy Academy fighter Justin McNally

This weekend is a significant weekend for Reed Academy; multiple teammates are competing. Tonight inside the Bellator cage Justin McNally (2-1) looks for his 3rd win under the promotions banner. He will meet Chris Gutierrez (2-0-1) on the preliminary portion of the card.

Then the ladies of Reed Academy, Amanda Benjamin (0-1), Anna Abrams (2-0) and Lisa Reed (2-0), prepare for their fights that take place tomorrow in Northern Kentucky. Another teammate, Robert White, was scheduled to compete with McNally on the Bellator card, but the bout was scratched from the card. The gym, nestled away in the suburbs of Northern Cincinnati, has been slowly making a name for itself in the Tri-state region. This weekend is yet another example of the talent coming out of the facility.

Tonight at the WinStar World Casino in Thackerville, Oklahoma, airing live on SpikeTV, you can see McNally (135.6lbs) take on Gutierrez (135.8lbs). “The Kid” as he is often referred by, will be looking to make a statement tonight. With the win, McNally might just set himself up for a bid into the next bantamweight tournament, whenever that occurs. You can watch his match-up live on SpikeTV.com; fights begin at 6pm EST.

Back in the Ohio Valley region the women get ready for their respective fights. First is Amanda Benjamin, who steps inside the cage against Tanya Greenlee (0-0). The North Baltimore, Ohio native will be making her debut after joining Demolition Fight Team. She has been preparing with XFC alum Jordan Espinosa getting ready for Benjamin.

Lisa Reed will be returning to the cage after nearly two years after her last bout. She will be going up against Areil Duncan (1-1) who lost a decision to Jayde Sheely (2-0) this past November. Duncan, who will be traveling in from Port Clinton, Ohio will look to bounce back from the recent loss while handing Reed her first taste of defeat. The daughter of SiFu Charles Reed, who owns and operates Reed Academy will look to set aside the so-called cage rust and extend her winning streak.

Finally, that leaves us with Abrams, who has the toughest fight of the night. She will be going up against seasoned veteran Sarah Cook (4-7) who recently defeated Brianna Eberhardt (1-2) in January snapping her losing streak. Like Reed, Abrams too is looking to keep her undefeated streak alive with a win over Cook. A victory would be monumental, propelling Abrams higher in the ranks of the women’s division. While there are many great fights on the card, this is one bout you should not miss.
