Hardrock MMA teams with National Breast Cancer Foundation for charity offering
October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month and many organizations do something to help the cause. The local MMA scene is usually no different. You can check the archives of BluegrassMMA and find many examples of that. This year Hardrock MMA joins the fight and is supporting the National Breast Cancer Foundation.
NBCF’s mission is to help women now by providing help and inspiring hope to those affected by breast cancer through early detection, education and support services. The charity was formed in 1991 by Janelle Hail, a breast cancer survivor. She was diagnosed with breast cancer in 1980 at the age of 34.
Vanessa Higdon, the promoter of Hardrock MMA, told us that by pairing with the NBCF that they hope to inspire others in the MMA community to give back. She told us this.
The National Breast Cancer Foundation approved Hardrock MMA to pair with their organization to raise awareness of early signs of breast cancer and to raise funds for research as well as support services for people affected. Some companies give a percentage of profits from an event however Hardrock MMa has decided we will donate $1 from every ticket sold to Hardrock MMA 84 at Turfway Park regardless of profit from the event. This ensures that a portion of EVERY ticket sale is being used to support a great cause.
Jason Weinel, the voice of Hardrock MMA, was very excited about the charity offering and told us what kind of impact early detection can have.
These donations will help women get breast cancer screenings and hopefully catch cancer before it becomes deadly. Hearing the dreadful words, “we found something”, is life changing, this is why screenings are so important. Detecting breast cancer early enough means that grandmothers, mothers, sisters and daughters will all have a fighting chance. Risk assessments save lives! Thank you to all that will be attending Hardrock MMA 84 in Florence on October 15th, you all will be helping women catch cancer early.
Fans can not only support the charity through the purchase of a ticket but donations will be accepted at the event as well as a charity raffle.
