A second title bout has been added to next month’s Colosseum Combat XXXVIII event, as Joe Lile Jr. (6-2) and Damian Norris (7-2) will square off for the vacant professional lightweight title.
Lile returned from a layoff of nearly two years last August, as he topped Jameson Sharp via decision at Colosseum Combat XXXVI. Four of his six wins are via stoppage, including three submissions. The Indiana native is currently sitting just outside the top 10 in the BluegrassMMA Rankings.
Norris hails from the Chicago area and represents Midwest Training Center. He’s won three bouts in a row, and has five wins via stoppage. This fight marks his Colosseum Combat debut.
CC promoter Mark Slater has hinted that the new lightweight champion could have an immediate challenger set up at the event, as Cameron VanCamp is set to take on Bobby Emmons. VanCamp and Norris previously squared off at an XFO event in 2014, with VanCamp winning a decision.
In the night’s other title bout, Muhammad Abdullah will challenge Keith Smetana for the middleweight title.
