Next weekend will mark the end of an era, as HOOKnSHOOT is gearing up for their final event to take place on March 4 at the Memorial Coliseum in Evansville, Indiana.
HOOKnSHOOT is the second longest running MMA promotion in the U.S., behind only industry-leading UFC.
Promoter Jeff Osborne is a true pioneer of mixed martial arts, including being one of the first promotions to feature women. In 1999, HOOKnSHOOT promoted its first female bout, and in 2002, the promotion held an all-female event.
Osborne also helped cultivate some of the biggest names in the sport, and HNS is where many of them got their start. Names like former UFC champions Dave Menne and Frank Mir had their pro debuts for the organization in the 90s.
HNS has lost some steam in recent years, and Osborne has said he’s not as passionate about MMA as he is about his new business venture – an arcade.
“The Farewell Show” will feature an amateur lineup, and Osborne will even check off one box in the MMA industry that he hasn’t done just yet: ring card girl.
