The Arena in Corbin, Kentucky plays host to an unusual event tonight. Two promotions have come together to co-promote “Border Wars” The appropriately named event pits the two neighboring promotions, Warrior FC and Valor Fights, against one anther.
The card is a Kentucky vs. Tennessee theme with each state having a strong roster of talent representing them. The main event features a pair of heavyweights as undefeated professional Ben Rowland (1-0) meets Dustin Long (8-3). Rowland started his professional career with a highlight reel knockout. Long is coming off a championship performance against Anthony Trotter inside the Valor cage. Both the Valor and Warrior titles are on the line in this one.
The guy everyone loves to hate returns as Ben Sergent (6-0) comes out of retirement to meet Steve Bell (3-7). Sergent hasn’t seen action in a few years but has kept his record perfect. Bell has played the role of journeyman and would be the spoiler if he could find a way to defeat Sergent.
Scott Hope (6-5) hangs up the gloves after his fight tonight. The hometown guy will be well supported in his backyard as he looks to close things out on a high note against Doug Williams (1-1). Hope has been a key part of the years of success that Warrior FC has had.
Youngster Ken Beverly (4-2) will meet Steven Haag (3-1)on the pro card. Beverly returned from injury in March to best Nick Baker. Haag is making a quick turn around as he just fought on April 15, notching a first-round win over Quinten Culpepper.
Gina Begley (0-2) will look to notch her first professional win as she meets KMAA’s Taylor Turner (1-3) in a flyweight bout. Both fighters are in need of a win and on paper, this couldn’t be a more even matchup.
Tonight’s event takes place at The Arena in Corbin and will air live on FloCombat! Fights start at 6 p.m. and tickets will be available at the event.
