Results – Katlyn Chookagian arrives on national stage at CFFC 55

Despite losing four fights leading up to fight night, CFFC 55 was a successful event for the promotion on a big weekend at the Borgata in Atlantic City.
Rising flyweight star Katlyn Chookagian (6-0) showed that she is a legitimate prospect, as she overwhelmed Brazilian Isabelly Varela (7-1) for five rounds en route to claiming the first CFFC women’s title with scores of 50-42, 50-42 and 50-44.
Former CFFC heavyweight champion Plinio Cruz (8-6) got back on track after losing his title to Azunna Anyanwu last July, as he outlasted Joe Stripling (8-9) to take home a unanimous decision in the co-main event.
The event was decimated at the last minute, however, as featherweight champion Jeff Lentz came ill with food poisoning and his main event bout against Bill Algeo was cancelled after he went to the hospital.
Two fights were also cancelled when fighters missed weight, and one fighter failed to show up for weigh-ins altogether.
CFFC returns to the City of Brotherly Love next month when CFFC 56 goes down in Philadelphia on Feb. 27.
