Absolute Action MMA returned to the BB&T Arena located on the Northern Kentucky University campus in Highland Heights, Kentucky for their 6-Year Anniversary Show.
The event featured a total of 8 bouts, including 2 in the professional ranks.
In the main event, local fighter and fan favorite, Cody Gabelman (5-2) of Team G-Force was able to stop his opponent in the very first round. Zakk Smith of Des Moines, Iowa made his way to the Bluegrass State looking to snap his two-fight losing streak against the “Lil Ginjahhh”. It took Gabelman just over one minute to secure his now patented move, a rear-naked choke, to stop his opponent.
The win moves Gabelman to a two-fight winning streak and 5-2 overall as a professional fighter.
In the co-main event, Jason Riley (11-8) of Ronin Training Center was able to rebound from a previous loss when he submitted MMA veteran Ron Fields (23-31-1) in the third round. Fields has now lost back-to-back fights.
On the amateur side of the event, Tyler Shipp (2-0) was able to keep his perfect record intact after stopping Brandon Gabelman (0-1) in the opening round. After making his debut in November, Shipp has now finished both of his bouts in the first round.
The Osgood, Indiana resident is on his way to building a solid amateur career.
