Two of the more polarizing fighters in the Ohio Valley are set to throw down next month, as Mark Cherico (10-1) and Antonio Castillo Jr. (9-6) will meet in a professional bout at Pinnacle FC 15.
Cherico and Castillo have had a rivalry for years, and it’s even gotten personal at times. Promoter Matt Leyshock detailed the rivalry in a blog post announcing the bout on StandThemUp.org.
Cherico returned from a short-lived retirement in September, as he earned a decision win over D’Juan Owens at Pinnacle FC 14. He’s won three straight bouts since dropping his only fight against Brian Keller at Pinnacle FC 9 nearly two years ago. “The Pride of Bloomfield” has earned five wins via submission and two via TKO.
Castillo comes in looking to snap a two fight losing streak, as he was knocked out by Cherico’s teammate Khama Worthy at Pinnacle FC 12 last November, and then followed up with a submission loss to Julian Lane at IT Fight Series 43 in April. “The Mexican Muscle” has one TKO win and two submissions to his credit.
Pinnacle FC 15 takes place on Dec. 17 in Pittsburgh, PA and the entire event will stream live on FloCombat.
